Practical Strategies for Navigating Tariffs

Businesses and organizations in the Pontiac are working quickly to respond to the recent tariffs imposed by the U.S. government.

To help support the economic vitality of the region, the Pontiac Chamber of Commerce along with SADC Pontiac and the MRC Pontiac hosted an evening for leaders to come together to identify practical strategies and tangible actions that can be taken.

To ground our conversation with expert guidance, we were joined by Pedro Antunes, Chief Economist of The Conference Board of Canada, who shared the most recent data and perspectives on the state of the tariffs and the anticipated impacts. He also provided perspectives on what businesses can do in response.

Participants were then asked to work together to identify what actions organizations in the Pontiac can take. This exercise was facilitated by Trefor Munn-Venn on behalf of the Pontiac Chamber of Commerce.

This resulting document provides a summary of the perspectives of The Conference Board along with the strategies and actions identified by the participants.
